FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to book for any of the classes?

Yes, bookings are required prior to commencement of class. You will have access to book in via our schedule page when you click on 'book' under your preferred class. 

It is my first class, what do I need to bring?

Yoga 101 supplies mats to borrow and all props that you will need for your class. If you would like to use your own yoga mat, you may bring that with you.
If you are pregnant or have recently had surgery, or suffer with High Blood Pressure, you are required to bring in a clearance to participate letter from your GP, for your own wellbeing.

What do I wear to class?

Things are pretty casual at Yoga 101. Wearing something that you can move and stretch in comfortably is ideal. (remembering that you are stretching and maybe even upside down, depending on the class you attend)

How many people attend each class?

This will vary from class to class.

It could range from 4 - 24 participants in each class. (averaging around 10 per class)

I have never attended yoga before. I am not very flexible...

Yes, this is a very common question. Everyone starts from where they are. Flexibility comes along with a regular practice. It is definitely not a prerequisite!

What is the difference between yoga and pilates?

Pilates aims to improve your posture and strengthen your core, with specific exercises and breathing techniques to support the body.

Yoga is a class of postures that is a holistic approach to mind, body health with attention to breath, relaxation techniques and meditation.

How long do classes go for?

Each mat class runs for 60 minutes.  Reformer Pilates are 45 minutes in duration.

What is the difference between Beginner Pilates and Pilates class written on the schedule?

Beginner Pilates teaches you the foundation of Pilates, with breathing techniques and in a very supportive environment, taking in to consideration any injuries that you may have. We use small props, such as Therabands or Pilates balls in this class for some resistance work.

The class on the schedule that reads, 'Pilates' is a pre choreographed to music, intermediate- advanced contemporary style class. It includes such movements as; plank, push ups, lunges, squats, abdominal strengthening and core controlled movements. a great class to challenge your body.

Are the workshops and retreats for any level of participant?

YES! All various levels of yoga are warmly welcomed. Retreats and workshops are intended to relax, rejuvenate the body, mind and soul.
